The Problem
Over the years, we have helped Henry’s Asphalt Paving in one way or another, from SEM to Website Build to Social Media and more. The company was happy with the results from their online advertising, but wanted to achieve a better Organic Presence.
The Solution
In 2020, we performed a pretty major SEO project on his website to compete with some very strong competition around Central & Northwestern NJ. The first page of Google for the keywords that are descriptive of his business are dominated by what we call “Aggregator Companies”.
The coveted first page of Google is a great place to be. However for some industries, it’s tougher to rank than others. Without even taking into account the reduction of first page organic listings on Search Engine Results Pages (SERP), many industries like Home Remodeling, HVAC, Real Estate & Paving Companies have to compete with Aggregators. Aggregators are companies like Angi, Houzz, HomeAdvisor, Zillow, Yelp, and even yellow page directories that present the consumer with many businesses on their directory that provide that particular service they are searching for.
So, not only are you competing with your direct competition, you are going up against some VERY deep pockets of large multi-national corporations. This makes SEO difficult, but definitely not impossible as seen by the illustration to the right showing our customer ranking first in the search “Paving Contractors in Bridgewater NJ”; even before the Aggregators.

The Results:
HUGE JUMPS IN PLACEMENT VERY QUICKLY
A website is only effective if it gets seen. Continuous improvements to the site including metadata, new content, blogs, new alt tags, new video and city pages have continued to improve the organic ranking. This paving company improved their first page appearances substantially across 5 counties in New Jersey (Warren, Hunterdon, Somerset, Morris & Mercer). We tracked their placement for over 150 keyword phrases over the years. In the beginning of this project, they were ranking on page one for only 5 keyphrases. Today, they rank on page one for over 95 keyphrases. Their organic traffic doubled in the first year!

During this time, we also focused on off-page SEO to ensure he showed up well in the Google Maps and Google Search 3-pack. This increased not only his search views by 5 times, but resulted in a year over year increase of over 130% in actions from his Google Profile. He even shows up in the first position of the 3 pack for “Paving Company” in the entire state of New Jersey
